Do's and Don'ts
- Keep you computer in an open area so that there is plenty of air circulating around it. If you do not do this, heat accumulation within the computer tower can damage and / or shorten the life span of your computer.
- Do not place any sort of magnet near your computer, especially magnetic stick-ons and / or business cards. Magnets can destroy your hard drive because the hard drive saves its data on tiny magnetic dots.
- Do not use, if at all possible, magnetized screw drivers
- Try to keep heavy machinery away from your computer since they also generate magnetic fields. That is why computer cases are so heavy and thick.
- On a regular basis, open up your computer and clean out any dust that might be accumulating within the case. This can create heat build up and reduce your computer’s life span.
- When you are not using your computer, power it down. This allows the computer to cool off, reduces it usage time thereby extending its life span..
- If you have a laptop, buy yourself an inexpensive fan that you can put underneat your laptop. This will better distribute the removal of heat from your computer.
